A Technical Library Intern position provides an introduction to library sciences, research and aerospace. Sort, file, and categorize historical documents, reports, working papers, drawings, hardware, and books from employee files for disposition to the Aerojet Rocketdyne Library or archives. The position would provide experience working in a corporate library environment. Some effort will be directed toward collecting meta data and input of document numbers into the Aerojet Rocketdyne library database.A Technical Library Intern will aid the librarian in general library tasks including: 30 : Library scanning. 30 : Library maintenance (includes shelving and filing). 20 : Customer service. 20 : Database work.Candidate must be currently enrolled in a BachelorA?s degree program in Library Science, English, History, Education (or similar) major and must have completed their Sophomore year by summer 2017 OR be enrolled in an M.S. degree program in related major. Must have good academic standing. Must be 18 years of age or older. General computer skills, solid attention to detail and good spelling skills. Physically able to climb ladders and lift up to 30 lbs. Requires U.S. Citizenship, U.S. Permanent Residency or other status as a U.S. Person. Must be able to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government information. Having dual citizenship may preclude you from being able to meet this requirement. Work Environment and Physical Requirements:Must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer; stamina to sit and stand and to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions; may occasionally lift/carry/push/pull up to 30 pounds; may require minimal walking, climbing, stooping, crouching, and/or bending; and vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone. May require the ability to travel by air or auto. May require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, and shop coat. These positions may be expected to work varying shifts and hours to ensure successful operation of activities in the organization.
