In this high:impact position you will be managing a territory of 20,000,000 to 50,000,000 in written premiums through a staff of approximately a team of 12 underwriters and premium auditors; support underwriting by handling referrals, questions and developing of the underwriting staff; assist underwriters with managing their territories to optimize growth and to maintain underwriting discipline keeping loss ratios profitable. You will be monitoring your underwritersA? workloads and making adjustments when needed; facilitate communication between underwriters and the Underwriting Manager and Branch Manager; work with the Support Staff Supervisor to ensure team efficiency and effectiveness; and compliment an already strong team by interviewing, selecting and hiring additional staff members as needed. You will be included in the strategy of the budgeting and administration of your teamA?s compensation. Your partnership with the Regional Strategic Planning Analyst in rate review process and in product development will also be key.Perform team management, coaching, training and nurturing of our future leaders. Develop, evaluate and administer annual performance appraisals. Make salary and promotion recommendations, including annual operating plan. Document and discuss performance : related matters as necessaryReview and sign off on file referrals for underwriting staff. Coordinate and assist in production, underwriting, training and workflow for all team members. Exercise underwriting authority and establish underwriting authorities for team members. Coordinate maintenance of rates, rules and forms, including gathering and analyzing informationMonitor underwriting quality, performance and team results, and report them to the Underwriting Manager. Develop and implement actions when required Agency Management/Marketing. Coordinate and assist in customer/agency relations including agency review, implementation of action and proactively going out on location as needed.
