The*Clinical Quality and Education Coordinator*provides clinical support and leadership for the Trauma and Acute Care Surgery (ACS) Department performance improvement (PI) activities and registries, as well as the development, implementation, and evaluation of trauma educational outreach and injury prevention programs. This position participates in quality assurance and performance improvement activities for the Trauma and Acute Care Surgery Department, administration and other departments as appropriate. This includes case reviews, effective identification of PI issues, complications, systems issues, monitoring of indicators, and reporting of actions taken and results, as well as assuring registry integrity and data quality. The Clinical Coordinator also develops, implements, and evaluates the trauma educational outreach and injury prevention program for the facility, community, and region.
*Education:*
* Bachelors degree or equivalent education and experience required.
*Licensure and Certifications:*
* California RN license
*Experience:*
* Minimum of 3-5 years clinical trauma experience in a trauma center setting.
* Prior experience in performance improvement, case reviews, and audits in an acute care hospital setting.
* Prior experience in analysis and interpretation of clinical data.
* Experience in adult education, group facilitation and leadership.
* Experience working in teams of diverse health care disciplines.
*Skills and Knowledge:*
* Excellent interpersonal skills to be able to tactfully direct the efforts of diverse groups of health professionals towards performance improvement and risk reduction activities.
* Ability to interpret and implement requirements of regulatory agencies, including Title 22.
* Familiarity with comparative databases and statistical methodology is preferred.
* Requires excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* Analytic, problem resolution, persuasion and negotiation skills.
* Ability to plan, organize, set and execute objectives with excellent attention to detail.
* Ability to organize and prioritize multiple projects.
* Self-direction, independent judgment, discretion and ability to work with a team.
* Ability to work with highly sensitive data in a confidential and professional manner is required.
* Excellent computer skills including proficiency with Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required.
* Ability to perform ICD coding and AIS scoring preferred.
