Job Description
As a Hardware Design Engineer within the SSD product group at Micron Technology Inc., you will be responsible for designing solid state drives suitable for high volume manufacturing. Your responsibilities will include circuit design, circuit simulation, design documentation, circuit layout supervision, design verification, component selection, circuit reliability studies and sustaining.
Responsibilities and Tasks
Perform all aspects of systems and board level design
Controlled Impedance, Crosstalk, Signal Integrity, Power Integrity, Manufacturability, Reliability, and EMC/ESD and Green Industry Compliance
Schematic capture and Spice simulation
PCB layout and manufacturing processes
Implement storage interface designs
NAND Flash and SDRAM
Design, test, evaluate, and debug power supply circuits (switching/linear DC:DC)
Drive engineering efforts through all aspects of new product development and system level debug through production and sustaining
Analyze problems, diagnose root cause, and apply corrective actions
Hands:on experience with logic analyzers, bus analyzers and digital scopes
Maintain good communication, documentation, leadership, problem solving skills, and the ability to work in a team environment
Work with key suppliers in identifying new technologies that will give NSG a competitive advantage in features, performance and cost
Select components
Work with Purchasing on BOM cost optimization
Second sourcing
Test and Characterization
Work with librarian on symbol creation
Design for manufacturability (DFM)
Work with other functional areas to identify and drive continuous improvements in the design to manufacturing process
Provide hardware support and knowledge to architecture and other R and D functions
Engineering Advanced Development (EAD)
Design development platforms
Support ASIC Design
Provide guidance, support, and mentoring to junior engineers
Support Internal/External Customers
Provide technical support (e.g. failure analysis, questions, etc.) to any internal or external customer as part of hardware development
Support customer and internal audits
Adhere to Safety procedures
Follow established policies and procedures
Recognize and resolve safety or environmental issues, including assistance to develop appropriate procedures and documentation
Use available resources to complete tasks in a safe and efficient manner
