LWP Claims Solutions, Inc. a Third:Party Administrator has an immediate opportunity for an experienced Workers Compensation Claims Supervisor/Manager to become part of a dynamic team. This person will supervise a unit of a growing office.


POSITION DESCRIPTION
Supervise/Manage a unit of Claims Examiners in a one unit office that is expected to grow. This person will be the Lead in the Glendale office reporting to an off:site manager. Supports the Operational profit and growth goals set by the Senior Management Team of the technical claims staff in the timeline and accuracy of their work. Ensures claim handling standards and performance is consistent with both internal and external standards.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES

Supervises Claims Unit staff to ensure timely and accurate benefit payments, notices and legal filings. Assumes responsibility for the overall supervision and coordination of the assigned technical claims as well as maintaining effective communication and good relationships with internal and external contacts. Will be responsible for leading a staff of 4+ Examiners. Day travel to attend client claim reviews, sales interviews and Workers Compensation Appeal Board (WCAB) conferences with staff is expected. Minimal overnight travel.

1. Assumes responsibility for the overall supervision and coordination of the assigned technical Claims staff.
a. Contributes to the performance standards and procedures for the Claims staff.
b. Conducts performance evaluations and makes recommendations regarding salary adjustments, promotions, hiring, corrective actions and termination. Ensures compliance with company guidelines.
c. Monitors and manages attendance.
d. Ensures that all functions of the technical claims staff is completed timely, accurately and in accordance with established guidelines, policies, procedures and performance standards.
e. Directs workflow of assigned claims staff.
f. Monitors and reports any issues of backlog to the Senior Manager and/or Management team immediately.
g. Assigns specific tasks on a project basis with completed results of projects reviewed with the Senior Management or Management Team, when appropriate.
h. Provides back up or assistance for assigned claims unit whenever needed. Provides back up to other units, or management team, at the direction of the Senior Manager.
i. Prepares and reports statistical data for Senior Manager on agreed upon intervals and on a project basis.
j. Acknowledge and acts upon requests from Senior Manager within 48 hours, or by agreed upon due date.

2. Assumes responsibility for maintaining effective communication and good relationships with internal and external contacts.
a. Initiates and maintains good rapport with new and existing management members, staff, client and vendors.
b. Participates in client claim reviews and communicates any positive or improvement needed feedback to the Senior Manager in a timely fashion.
c. Ensures reporting of serious losses, or otherwise designated claims, to employers, brokers, carriers, or other designated program managers consistent with the reporting guidelines or contract.
d. Ensures that claim handling activities are consistent and in compliance of client or carrier agreements or contracts.
e. Provides a claim status report on any claim as requested by clients or Senior Management.
f. Troubleshoots and resolves any complaint calls.
g. Fosters a teamwork spirit.
h. Performs public relations, problem:solving and educational functions for existing and potential brokers, agents and clients.
i. Participates in the marketing, proposal or interviewing process of potential clients as requested by the Senior Manager.

3. Assumes responsibility for related duties as required or assigned.
