The Property Claim Assistant provides clerical and technical support to the Claims Department. The duties include direct handling of portions of property claims including the full resolution of smaller losses that involve no coverage or scope issues. Customer service is a key component both to internal customers and our policyholders. This Assistant role has been designed with a promotional career path into a Claim Representative position. Set up new claims in the system.Make initial contacts per Claim Best Practices.Obtain claim loss details, investigate and evaluate loss.Explain coverages and next steps to our policyholders. Pro:actively utilize current diary system.Appropriately document claim files. Process claim payments and finalize settlement of claim. Recognize disputes and coverage issues timely and pro:actively involves management. Perform claim support duties as needed, including answering, responding and transferring phone calls and provide customer service assistance as needed.Begin and progress through specialized in:house training program obtaining state licenses, technical certifications, and policy expertise to promote to Claim Representative Position.Additional Responsibilities Performs other related duties as required and assists with special projects.Education, training, and experience: Bachelors, Associates Degree and/or equivalent combination of High School Diploma/GED, training and work experience.One to three yearsA? experience in the insurance industry, customer service field or related college course work.Must be able to obtain state adjuster licensing in applicable states within 120 days of employment and maintain licensing requirements as a requirement of continued employment. Knowledge, skills, and abilities: Excellent verbal, written, and listening skills.Demonstrated customer service, planning, organizational and time management skills. Ability to empathize with internal and external customers is required.Excellent attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple and changing priorities in a fast paced working environment.Strong computer skills and intermediate Microsoft Office Word and Excel experience.Ability to handle multiple tasks with accuracy, able to prioritize effectively and meet deadlinesWorks well with management and co:workers
